I was born in Georgia and raised in North Carolina.  I attended UNCW where I majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry.  I received my Masters of Science from Georgia Institute of Technology where I studied the interactions between various proteins and their effects on the folding and packaging of DNA. From Atlanta I moved back to North Carolina to briefly work in a hematology and hemostasis lab at UNC. I am currently working in Dr. Truskey's lab. I have no qualms about wearing my UNC regalia around Duke's campus.  In my free time I enjoy hiking, traveling, and watching This Old House.
