Graduate Mentor: Xu Zhang

I hail from Miller Place, a small town on eastern Long Island, where I grew up after spending the first four years of my life in Beijing, China. I am currently a junior pursuing a Biomedical Engineering major and a certificate in Genome Sciences & Policy. I will be working with Leigh Atchison on a collaboration project between the telen Lab and the Truskey Lab as part of my Pratt Fellowship: designing a microfluidic device under Dr. Xu Zhang’s guidance to isolate and analyze red blood cell/white blood cell aggregates from the blood of sickle cell disease patients. As the Vice President of the Duke Badminton Club, one of my greatest commitments is also one of my favorite activities. I also spend time consuming the typical modes of media and tenting for the UNC game.
