Abstract

The relationship between low density lipoprotein (LDL) residence time and macrophage accumulation in the rabbit aorta was studied. It was hypothesized that longer LDL residence times increased the likelihood for modification of LDL. It was found that for rabbits fed on a hypercholesterolemic diet, elevations in macrophage densities were associated with higher concentrations and longer residence times of 125I-LDL.
