I am originally from Lenexa, Kansas. I earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Kansas in 2012. During my time at KU, my undergraduate research experiences in tissue engineering shaped my interest in continuing my education with graduate studies in biomedical engineering. I started in the BME Ph.D. program at Duke in the fall of 2012, and I am developing a human tissue-engineered in vitro model of healthy and insulin resistant skeletal muscle with applications in diabetes drug testing and development. Outside of the lab, I enjoy playing soccer, running, and eating brownies.
